For over twenty years, Artificial Rock Contractors has designed and built artificial rock swimming pools, rock slides and rock waterfalls. We are a fully licensed and insured contractor serving the San Diego, Orange County and Riverside County areas. Our craftsmen cut and shape concrete to emulate natural stone formations, and use the same techniques to create features like artificial trees and cacti.

A well-designed water feature can turn a backyard, a hotel lobby or a living room into a luxurious, peaceful environment, and we build rockscapes for indoor and outdoor pools of any size and form. Artificial rock, explained.

Our artificial rock is constructed on a steel rebar framework using high-strength concrete, then sculpted, textured and colored by hand. We can replicate natural stone such as sandstone, blue granite, limestone and basalt. The finished rock is lighter than genuine stone, yet substantial and strong.

Early fake rock was easy to spot because of uniform shapes and poor coloring. Today’s materials and techniques are far more realistic. Our coloring technique layers an average of 10 earth-tone colors per project, each adjusted individually for a natural effect.

Yes. Rock slides, waterfalls and other features can be added whether you already have a pool or are building a new one. We can also transform all or part of a standard pool deck coping into an artificial rock pattern. See artificial rock pools.

The two most popular styles are straight slides, which climb a few steps and descend directly into the water, and curved or twisting slides. Rock slides can also integrate waterfalls, plants and even a tunnel. See artificial rock slides.

Popular styles include arched waterfalls, where water rises slightly before dropping, and curtain waterfalls, a continuous sheet of water into the pool. We also build grottos and caves, and we’ve created waterfalls and fountains ranging from 6 feet to 100 feet tall. See artificial rock waterfalls.

Yes. We repair, retexture and recolor faded, cracked or poorly constructed rock waterfalls and pool rockwork. We also address corroded rebar, seepage at rock joints, efflorescence and calcium deposits in mortar joints. See artificial rock repair.
